Admission Requirements
Placement auditions are required for all new students.  Advancement in our class is dependent upon consent of the instructor based on prior student performance.

Drop Policy
If you need to drop your class prior to the start of the term, you must give the office a week notice (7 days).  **For example, if your class starts on Saturday at 10am, you must notify the office no later than 10am that prior Sunday.**

If you drop, one of two things may happen:

  1. Any tuition paid towards class and the non-refundable $100 deposit will be kept on credit at the studio for up to one year to be applied to a future class.
  2. The non-refundable deposit will be held on credit at the studio for up to one year to be applied to a future class.  Any other tuition paid will be refunded to you (minus a $10 credit card processing fee).

If you fail to notify the office with 7 days notice prior to the start of the first class, you will lose your deposit and any balance you have paid.

Drop Policy for Special 10% Discount-Multiple Class Sign-up

If you have signed up for multiple classes for our special 10% discount, the following drop policy will apply:

You must give the office a week notice (7 days). **For example, if your class starts on Saturday at 10am you must notify the office no later than 10am that prior Sunday.

If you drop with 7 days notice, one of two things may happen:

  1. Any tuition paid towards class and the non-refundable $100 deposits will be kept on credit at the studio for up to one year to be applied to a future class.
  2. The non-refundable deposits will be held on credit at the studio for up to one year to be applied to a future class.  Any other tuition paid will be refunded to you minus the 10% discount balance (for example if class were $350 and you received at 10% discount we would subtract $35 from the money to be refunded) and a $10 credit card processing fee.

If you fail to notify the office with 7 days notice prior to the start of the first class, you will lose your deposit and any balance you have paid UNLESS you have paid in full for the multiple classes. In that case, you would lose your deposit and the balance for the FIRST class. For the SECOND class, you would be credited your $100 deposit towards a future ASC class and REFUNDED your balance owed for the second class minus the 10% discount balance (for example if class were $350 and you received at 10% discount we would subtract $35 from the money to be refunded) and a $10 credit card processing fee.

Enrollment Agreement
Each student that takes class at Acting Studio Chicago must sign and follow an enrollment agreement (See sample).

Payment Plan

Acting Studio Chicago requires at least a $100 non-refundable deposit for all ongoing classes.

For weekend workshops full tuition is due at the time of registration.

For our intensive week-long summer programs, a deposit of half the tuition is due at the time of registration.

If there is need for a payment plan, students must agree to the following arrangement for payment. The balance can be broken down into 2 equal payments to be paid on the first day of class and the second day of class. There will be a $10 fee added to your tuition to cover the additional administrative and bookkeeping work. A valid credit card is required for the payment plan and may be automatically charged. An extra $25 penalty fee will be charged to the remaining balance a student is tardy in making payments. Students who break the terms of this agreement will not be allowed into class until the remaining balance is paid.

Classroom Policies

Active participation in class discussions is strongly encouraged.  Learning how to watch other actors work and formulate articulate, constructive criticism will broaden and deepen your understanding of your own process.  Focus on making your feedback constructive and positive.  Avoid talking about symptoms or technical problems.  Because we consider your experience observing your classmates’ work to be such an integral part of your own learning process, we strongly discourage leaving class early.  If you must leave class early, please let the office or your instructor know as soon as you know so that we can make any necessary adjustments to the schedule for that evening.

Attendance Policies

You must call the office at 312-527-4566 if you are going to miss class for any reason or will be late for class AT ALL.
We understand that emergencies happen, that you may get sick, take vacations, etc… and we will do our best to keep you caught up with the rest of the class should you have to be absent. Unfortunately, due to space availability in and scheduling of future classes, we cannot allow absences to be made up in the next term.  Please remember that we cannot reimburse you for classes missed.  You have made a valuable investment in yourself with these classes; get as much out of it as you can!

Prep Work and Arrival Times
Please arrive 15 minutes prior to class start.  Use this time to get yourself focused and ready for class. If you are given an assignment in advance, you will be expected to prepare and be ready by the time you arrive for class. The moments before class are a great time to review what you’ve already done- not to do your initial work.

Dress Code
Wear clothes and shoes in which you feel comfortable being physical.  Please keep jewelry to a minimum.

Eating and Drinking
Eating and drinking in class is prohibited duing class time. Breaks are provided for eating & drinking but please pick up after yourself.  Please keep your work space clean for your fellow actors.

Beepers Cell phones and Texting
The use of cellphones and texting are strictly prohibited during class. If you have a cell phone, please turn it off or put it on silent during class. Cellphone use and texting is NOT permitted during class time under any circumstances.

All of us at Acting Studio Chicago want your time here to be positive, productive and exciting.  Please feel free to talk to us if you are having problems or just need to talk about your process.  This is a teaching institution, so the more open, honest communication we have, the better it will be for all of us.
